I KNEW THAT SOMETHING WASN’T RIGHT.
But I had no idea what it was or why it was happening.
I had grown up privileged, loved, and supported by my family. The amount of emotional suffering I was experiencing made no sense, but by that point it didn’t really matter. I had become so consumed by it that I was ready to end it all.
That winter I had only one choice that mattered: Whether to live or die.
I chose to live.
